How to Get Around
Til toppen
Busses and coaches: The yellow busses will get you around central and greater Aarhus. When travelling elsewhere in the region or in Jutland as a whole, use the blue coaches (referred to as X-busses). The central coach station (Rutebilstationen), from where all coaches depart, is situated in Fredensgade close to the high street and the train station.

Trains: You can travel all around the country by train (Danish National Rail Service: DSB). Furthermore, there are two local railways which will take you to either Lemvig (Lemvigbanen) or Odder (Odderbanen). The train station (Aarhus Banegaard) is situated at Banegaardspladsen at the beginning of the high street in the opposite direction from the cathedral.

You can also reach Aarhus by ship or boat in the ever expanding Aarhus harbour or one of the city’s four marinas. Aarhus Airport is also a useful gateway for visitors flying in domestically or internationally.

For long as well as short trips, use the online Route Planner, which includes both busses and trains to suggest the quickest route for your trip.

The Danes are very fond of their bikes. The streets usually have designated bike paths and the light signals even come in special, small bike-versions. If you are only here on a short note, you can use the so-called city-bikes, which you can get from different places in town – they are free, but you need to pay a deposit of kr. 20, which you insert into a coin slot.

Postal Services
Til toppen
Danish letter-boxes are bright red and are to be found all over Aarhus. There is only one slot for both domestic and international letters, and we do not distinguish between first and second class postage.

The letter-boxes are usually emptied every day in the afternoon, except for Sundays. For late postage (9 pm), find a letter-box by a post office.

Letters send within Denmark usually arrive the next day.
