Agreement on Cleantech with Nanjing
Mayor Jacob Bundsgaard and Governor Xing Zhengjun of the Qixia district in Nanjing both signed a co-operation agreement at Aarhus City Hall on October 2nd.
The energy efficient city
Nanjing seeks inspiration and advice from Aarhus on how the city has been directed towards environment and energy efficiency. The focus for the new agreement is therefore cleantech. The agreement also points towards the possibilities for co-operation in the educational area. The concrete collaboration areas will be determined in the spring of 2013.
Aarhus is focused on China
The new agreement is according to Mayor Jacob Bundsgaard a natural development in the City of Aarhus’ China strategy:
”With the opportunities in China, it is natural for the City of Aarhus to expand the process of creating connections to benefit business opportunities. Close relations are imperative when doing business in China. When it comes to Aarhus and Nanjing, history has given Aarhus a special status and brought the two cities closely together. Both cities are eager to further develop this relationship”
China plays a significant part in the City of Aarhus’ international efforts. One of the goals is to attract Chinese investments to Aarhus and expand the relationship as widely as possible within cleantech.
