Urban Mediaspace Aarhus
The City of Aarhus is building a new Mediaspace and urban waterfront spaces along the inner harbour in Aarhus at the mouth of the river.
Urban Mediaspace Aarhus is a vast construction project consisting of several elements:
- Mediaspace
- Urban waterfront spaces
- Automatic car park with 1000 spaces
- Opening of the remaining part of Aarhus River
- Restructuring the infrastructure of the harbour
Future Main Library and Citizens’ Services
Mediaspace will house e.g. the future Main Library and Citizens’ Services.
Mediaspace will be a public space in which citizens, associations, businesses and employees can get together across disciplines to cooperate, develop and play.
Urban Waterfront Spaces
The urban waterfront spaces are a variety of large spaces that will be constructed along the harbour from Nørreport to the mouth of the river.
The new urban waterfront spaces are meant to generate coherence between city and water and offer numerous possibilities for arranging concerts and events.
Finances
A budget of 1.9 billion Danish kroner makes Urban Mediaspace Aarhus one of the largest construction projects the City of Aarhus has ever seen.
The Realdania Foundation contributes to the project with approximately 700 million kroner.
